Bryce is fun as it is, although I do feel sorry for Bryce Mac users. There is still so much to be explored within Bryce 7. DAZ 3D has progressed Bryce majorly from what it was when they first bought it.

Experience the innovative interface of the Touch Bar in the mid 2017 silver Apple 15.4' MacBook Pro with Touch Bar.

The Touch Bar places controls right at your fingertips and adapts to different apps to provide useful functions without having to navigate complex menus or memorize keyboard shortcuts. Replacing the function keys in the top row of the keyboard, the Touch Bar features a Retina-quality display and supports multi-touch input. The power button has been upgraded with a Touch ID sensor, so you can quickly log into your MacBook Pro using your fingerprint.

You can also use Touch ID to make purchases over the web, thanks to Apple Pay. Touch ID enables a quick, accurate reading of your fingerprint and uses sophisticated algorithms to recognize and match it with the Secure Enclave in the Apple T1 chip. The system features a 7th Gen Kaby Lake 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, 16GB of 2133 MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory, a 1TB PCIe-based SSD, four Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) ports, a Force Touch trackpad, a keyboard with a 2nd-gen butterfly mechanism, stereo speakers with double the dynamic range of its predecessor as well as improved bass, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 wireless technology, and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. MacOS High Sierra is the installed operating system. Please note that this Mac may come with an earlier version of macOS. You can upgrade to the latest version through the Mac App Store app.

Touch Bar The Touch Bar replaces the function keys that have long occupied the top of your keyboard with something much more versatile and capable. The multi-touch, Retina-quality display changes automatically based on what you're doing, from showing traditional system controls, such as volume and brightness, to more directly interacting with or browsing through content.

Intelligent typing features like emoji and predictive text improve the typing experience, and you'll be able to customize the Touch Bar to fit your needs. The Touch Bar can also adapt to apps, such as Mail, Safari, Messages, and even third-party apps like Adobe Photoshop, so you'll have access to useful functions previously hidden in menus.

Touch ID A Touch ID sensor has been integrated into the power button, so you can quickly log into your account, even when another user is logged in. You can also use it with Apple Pay to securely purchase things over the web, thanks to macOS Sierra. Retina Display The 15.4' Retina Display has a 2880 x 1800 resolution and features brighter LED backlighting than its predecessor as well as an increased contrast ratio, delivering deeper blacks and brighter whites. Its larger pixel aperture and variable refresh rate make it more power efficient than previous generations.

It also supports the P3 color gamut, which allows for more vibrant colors. This ensures true-to-life pictures with realistically vivid details, which are essential for graphic design, color grading, and editing. Force Touch Trackpad The Force Touch trackpad on the 15.4' MacBook Pro takes all the capabilities of multi-touch and adds force sensors that detect subtle differences in the amount of downward pressure you apply. This lets you have a deeper connection to your content, bringing more functionality right to your fingertip. It also introduces haptic feedback to MacBook Pro — allowing you not just to see what's happening on the screen, but to feel it. With multi-touch, you can use realistic gestures like swiping or pinching to switch between apps, navigate your content, and get the most out of your desktop space.

Thinner & Lighter The 15.4' MacBook Pro features a redesigned enclosure design and all-metal unibody construction that creates a rigid and dense notebook that is also thin and light. At just 15.5 mm thin, the 15.4' MacBook Pro weighs just four pounds. Audio The speakers have been totally redesigned to provide as much as twice the dynamic range and up to 58 percent more volume, with two-and-a-half-times louder bass for maximum boom. Plus, they're connected directly to system power, enabling up to three times more peak power.

MacOS Sierra The 15.4' MacBook Pro runs macOS Sierra, which features Siri integration, Universal Clipboard, Apple Pay on the web, and memories in Photos. Thunderbolt 3 Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously or one multi-panel 5K display.

The Macbook Pro has four ports, with each pair using a dedicated bus. Rated 5 out of 5 by dkiechle from Wonderful upgrade I bought this machine to replace a mid-2012 15 Retina MacBook Pro. The older machine worked very well, but after five years I felt it was time to upgrade and sell the old laptop while it was still worth something. The first thing I noticed is that the new computer was noticeably smaller and lighter while still having a full-size keyboard and the same size screen. The second thing I noticed is that the new MacBook Pro is not just measurably but noticeably speedier. This is clear when looking at the specs; still, it was a pleasant surprise. The trackpad is wonderfully huge, battery life is awesome, I love the touch bar and the feel of the new keyboard, and the only gripe (thought I am REALLY nitpicking here) is that the space gray seems to be slightly harder to keep looking clean than the aluminum case (though it looks better).

I don't find the four USBC ports an issue, but one definitely needs at least one USB 3.0 Type-C Male To USB Type-A female adapter to plug in thumb drives, external drives, and so on. Wonderful machine. Some will say it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. Rated 5 out of 5 by Nicols from What's better? BH Customer Service or this MacBook Pro?

Both I had the previous generation top of the range MBP. Honesty, I didn't need to change it.

But an opportunity came since a friend was traveling to US and I got it. Yes, the computer is absolutely gorgeous. Super fast, thin, light, comfortable and reliable. Touchbar is a plus. The screen quality is just perfect.

I'm really happy. But this review is way more than the computer itself. My five stars are dedicated to BHPhoto Customer Service. Without their constant support, it would be impossible for me to write this review from this computer. They helped since the very first moment. Specially during last minute situations.

I've been BH customer for years. Most of my gear was bought there.

And it will continue this way. Well done BH team.

You are the Macbook Pro's of Customer Support;). Rated 5 out of 5 by Matthew A. From Haven't used a Mac in over 10 years, this is fantastic I bought this laptop specifically for photo editing. Went away from Mac over 10 years ago and now that I'm back into photography I needed something portable for editing.

Accurate colors and beautiful display were my priorities and I got down to either this or the Dell XPS 15. The Dell was good, but 350 nits vs 500 nits on the MacBook Pro, and deeper crisper blacks on the MacBook as well. 4k on the XPS is great but not needed, you really can't tell a difference between Retina and 4k.

I was hesitant to learn how to use a Mac again but it has been nothing short of awesome. It just works. For example, wirelessly connecting to my home printer (which was a hassle with my Surface Book and desktop PC and continues to be a pain because they constantly lose connection and tell me the printer is off when it isn't) was an absolute breeze. It just worked, in a matter of seconds, and even shows a picture of my actual printer in the dock when I am printing something. The touchbar I though would be a gimmick but I actually love it. It's useful and pleasant to use. My only gripe is that while I can press down the Fn key to get it to display the F keys, I cannot lock the F keys on.

Some apps you can through system preferences, but the app I need to do it on it isn't an option. That app is Citrix, which I use to access Epic, the EHR I use at work. I love the keyboard. It's a thin chicklet design. Took a little getting used to but now my fingers just float around it with ease. The graphics cards are not that great.

That's another weakness of it but I knew that going in. It's more than sufficient for what I got the laptop for (photo editing) so it's fine, but when you want to play a game, the graphics will struggle with demanding titles, requiring a drop in settings and resolution. I think it's about equivalent to an nvidia 680. But hey, you don't buy a Mac for gaming anyway. Rated 4 out of 5 by Kevin from Beautiful It is a gorgeous computer. I have not had a lot of time on it yet, but so far so good.

It seems fast enough. I will be doing a lot of editing and working with software emulation on the Windows side - even that seems to working great.

I hope only having 16gb of RAM won't be an issue. The screen is beautiful and I hooked up an adaptor and ran a second monitor without a hiccup. I'm not a fan of only having Thunderbolt 3 ports and I miss the magnetic charging port, but other than that I am completely happy so far. Rated 5 out of 5 by Pam from I am in love, love, love with my new MBP!

I have been waiting for a new upgrade to the MBP and it's here. Using my new computer now and it is so amazing. Loving the touch bar and getting used to the new USB C ports.

I purchased a hub from a kickstart called HyperDrive that gives me 7 assorted ports that plug in elegantly to the two USB C's on the left side of the computer. B&H shipped quickly, packed the computer safely and stayed in touch with the shipments progress. Great computer, great vendor. Happy customer! Rated 4 out of 5 by Nicole from So far, so good. I'm not a fan of the large trackpad. My hand seems to always hit it and I will close a window or do something that I don't want.

I actually don't mind the touch bar. I thought that I would not like it at all and thought that it was just a gimmick but it comes in handy. I also like the USB C. I wasn't a fan mag safe power adapters as they pulled out too easily but probably did save my mac a few times. As long as this thing lasts a long while, I think I will like it fine. One question: Anyone know why the Space Gray is cheaper than the Silver?

Bryce has long been a staple of Mac-using digital artists. The once Mac-only tool has long provided a comprehensive feature set for rendering nature scenes and other still-life settings that are unmatched in similarly priced 3D modelers. With its latest release, and now under the ownership of Corel, Bryce 5 gains some solid new functionality, but neglects some of its most attractive older capabilities.

Interface Corel, unlike some other large software developers, decided to retain the ground breaking interface in Bryce when it acquired the application (along with several others) from MetaCreations. The interface used by Bryce may require a sharper learning curve than applications with a standard Aqua-look, but provides a combination of form and function. Icons pulse and display information when the mouse cursor is held over them, organized panes pop up for special features, and the entire application essentially is contained within a single window. For advanced users, the tight interface can shave serious time from a project's completion time. However, for novice users, the completely non-Mac (and non-Windows for that matter) style, and lack of detailed labels can impose difficulty. In addition, Bryce 5's interface hogs the entire screen with a black backdrop that hides the Finder and can cause some glitches in other applications.

One sorely needed feature that has finally been incorporated into Bryce 5 is a 'recently used files' menu that allows access to recently opened projects. Documentation Bryce 5 is a fairly complex application for users who want to exploit all of its functionality. As such, it comes as no surprise that the application comes bundled with a rather hefty user manual. The guide provides an excellent explanation of the interface, which is a necessity for newcomers.

However, it also provides details on virtually every lab, editor, and preference panel included in Bryce 5, as well as a section on using the tool in conjunction with other applications. Corel has also included a 'Links' menu in Bryce 5 that includes reference to a half-dozen pertinent Web sites, and can be customized to include other sites. New Features With its latest release, Bryce gains a feature that 3D artists have been yearning for quite some time: network rendering.

Dubbed 'render farming,' the clustering capabilities included with Bryce 5 allow users to spread a rendering task across numerous systems, significantly accelerating the process. The function can be used either over a LAN (local area network) or across the Internet. In addition, Bryce's implementation of network rendering is platform independent, so both Mac and Windows users can devote processing power to the same task. Tile rendering, where separate systems each render a portion of a single image, can also be used. Bryce's already amazing lab set gets a powerful addition in version 5.

The Tree Lab automatically generates a tree-like shape, which can then be modified according to branch density, leaf density, coloration, and tree species. The Tree Lab even generates a complex network of roots for each model. Meanwhile, the Light Lab has received a complete overhaul. The lab now essentially consolidates all of the lighting elements that were previously scattered throughout the application. However, some advanced users may find that the compressed new lab offers less control over some lighting aspects than previous releases. Unfortunately, one of the most powerful tools in Bryce 5 has been slightly crippled in the new release. The deep texture editor, which allows users to blend a series of patterns into a complex texture, has been reduced a simple set of controls that deny the creative options available in previous releases.

In return, Corel offers a 'Metaballs' feature which purportedly allows users to create organic looking shapes that need less texturing. Most advanced digital artists, however, would likely prefer the older, more complex system for generating textures. As part of Corel's increasing attempt to appeal to novice 3D designers, Bryce 5 includes a sundry of presets that include already generated skies, objects, land maps, and other elements of a scene. Compatibility Bryce 5 now includes support for a host of image formats, including USGS digital elevation data files, TrueSpace, VideoScape, DirectX 3d, LightWave, and VistaPro. Bryce 5 also supports all Photoshop plug-ins, including KPT (also a former MetaCreations property). Lacking, however, is 2D image support, which is limited to about a six formats.

An export lab allows users to convert Bryce terrains into mesh objects, so they can be used by other 3D applications. Users can further customize objects in the export process, for a more aesthetically pleasing result when projects are opened in other applications. Among the export formats in Bryce 5 are Ray Dream Studio, AutoCAD, MetaStream, Wavefront, LightWave, and Infini-D. Bryce 5 offers functionality and attention to detail unrivaled in its price range.

Despite a few stability mishaps and back-tracking on some oft-used functions, the new release is a worthy upgrade and includes new features that will certainly entice current Bryce users. A trial version of the application is available from. Cirrus creates Lightning-headphone dev kit Apple supplier Cirrus Logic has introduced a MFi-compliant new development kit for companies interested in using Cirrus' chips to create Lightning-based headphones, which - regardless of whether rumors about Apple dropping the analog headphone jack in its iPhone this fall - can offer advantages to music-loving iOS device users. The kit mentions some of the advantages of an all-digital headset or headphone connector, including higher-bitrate support, a more customizable experience, and support for power and data transfer into headphone hardware.

Several companies already make Lightning headphones, and Apple has supported the concept since June 2014. The Apple Store app for iPhone, which periodically rewards users with free app gifts, is now offering the iPhone 'Pocket' version of drawing app Procreate for those who have the free Apple Store app until July 28. Users who have redeemed the offer by navigating to the 'Stores' tab of the app and swiping past the 'iPhone Upgrade Program' banner to the 'Procreate' banner have noted that only the limited Pocket (iPhone) version of the app is available free, even if the Apple Store app is installed and the offer redeemed on an iPad. The Pocket version currently sells for $3 on the iOS App Store. Porsche adds CarPlay to 2017 Panamera Porsche has added a fifth model of vehicle to its CarPlay-supported lineup, announcing that the 2017 Panamera - which will arrive in the US in January - will include Apple's infotainment technology, and be seen on a giant 12.3-inch touchscreen as part of an all-new Porsche Communication Management system.

The luxury sedan starts at $99,900 for the 4S model, and scales up to the Panamera Turbo, which sells for $146,900. Other vehicles that currently support CarPlay include the 2016 911 and the 2017 models of Macan, 718 Boxster, and 718 Cayman. The company did not mention support for Google's corresponding Android Auto in its announcement. Apple employees testing wheelchair features New features included in the forthcoming watchOS 3 are being tested by Apple retail store employees, including a new activity-tracking feature that has been designed with wheelchair users in mind. The move is slightly unusual in that, while retail employees have previously been used to test pre-release versions of OS X and iOS, this marks the first time they've been included in the otherwise developer-only watchOS betas.

The company is said to have gone to great lengths to modify the activity tracker for wheelchair users, including changing the 'time to stand' notification to 'time to roll' and including two wheelchair-centric workout apps. Twitter stickers slowly roll out to users Twitter has introduced 'stickers,' allowing users to add extra graphical elements to their photos before uploading them to the micro-blogging service. A library of hundreds of accessories, props, and emoji will be available to use as stickers, which can be resized, rotated, and placed anywhere on the photograph. Images with stickers will also become searchable with viewers able to select a sticker to see how others use the same graphic in their own posts. Twitter advises stickers will be rolling out to users over the next few weeks, and will work on both the mobile apps and through the browser.
